Dr. Abdollah “Abbie” Homaifar is a 2018 Innovation Award winner. He was recognized at the annual BEYA STEM Conference in February for enhancing advanced undergraduate and graduate research.

Research areas include fuzzy logic, Artificial intelligence, renewable energy and power electronics, reconfigurable computing, wireless communications, image processing and pattern recognition.

Dr. Homaifar has served as Duke Energy Eminent Professor at North Carolina A&T State University since 2003 and is director of the Autonomous Control and Information Technology (ACIT) Center.

ACIT fosters collaborative research among faculty and students at North Carolina A&T and other universities, as well as researchers at federal agencies and industry. The Center also works to commercialize ACIT technologies for the benefit of the national economy.

The technology transfer role of the Center includes workshops, seminars and demonstration projects designed to move new technologies from the laboratory to industry as well as to educate technical personnel and managers on the opportunities and uses of the new technologies.
