Market Matters Inc. (MM Inc.), a not-for-profit development organization,  has announced Eric Ndonye Ngumbi as Agribusiness Entrepreneur of the Year at the 2018  “Making Markets Matter” event.

Ndonye is a director at a family-based business in Kenya, which provides an outlet for farmers to market their produce.

The African Agribusiness Entrepreneur of the Year Award recognizes outstanding entrepreneurs with achievements in agricultural input and industries serving food and fiber production in Africa.

The award is conferred by MM Inc. every year to an agribusiness entrepreneur whose efforts have made a positive impact on African rural communities.

In his capacity as director of Mulleys, Ndonye is responsible for the growth and the expansion of a supermarket chain.

Outside his busy work schedule, Ndonye finds time to mentor new businesses and he gives back to the community by serving as Chairman of the Board and a member of two local schools, where he is in charge of the development of the school and student mentorship.

Ndonye has a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Kansas in the USA.

Established in 2008 through the generous gift of Dr. Akin Adesina, an agricultural development professional with a passion and commitment to improving rural livelihoods in Africa, the award recognizes the invaluable role played by small and medium-sized enterprises in the continent’s sustainable development.

MM Inc.’s headquarters are in Ithaca, NY; it also has a regional office in Pretoria, South Africa.

All of Market Matters Inc.’s activities share a single focus: to help enterprising agribusinesses develop growth strategies and access resources that enhance their competitiveness in local, regional, and global markets.
