The Executive Leadership Council and Nationwide Insurance have announced the Nationwide’s Future Leaders Scholarship Program for black college students nationwide.

Nationwide’s Future Leaders of Tomorrow Scholarship will be awarded to African American undergraduate and graduate students who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership, community involvement, and are pursuing a degree in business, insurance, or a related field at an accredited college or university.

The Executive Leadership Council, an organization for the development of black leaders, and Nationwide Insurance share a commitment to making a difference. Together, these organizations have partnered to make significant contributions in support of diversity, inclusion, and achievement in business.

The Nationwide scholarship program was announced at  Executive Leadership Council’s 2017 Recognition Gala. This annual event raises funds to support Executive Leadership Council’s scholarships, community investment grants, leadership development programs and educational initiatives.

The Diamond Leadership Award presentation at the 2017 ELC Recognition Gala features (l to r) Gregory E. Deavens, Executive Leadership Council treasurer and executive vice president, who is also chief financial officer and treasurer at Independence Health Group; Gale King, executive vice president and chief administrative officer at Nationwide; and Terrance Williams, chief marketing officer and president of emerging businesses at Nationwide.

At the gala, the ELC presented Nationwide Insurance with the Diamond Leadership Award, which applauds $1 million corporate contributions toward ELC initiatives or new programs within a calendar year.

“For more than 30 years, The ELC has worked to build an inclusive business leadership pipeline from the classroom to the boardroom,” said Ronald C. Parker, president & CEO of The Executive Leadership Council. “We are grateful to Nationwide for their continued support of The ELC’s mission and commitment to the academic achievement and development of black undergraduate and graduate students.”

“Nationwide is proud to continue to support programs that offer academic and business opportunities to youth across the country. Nationwide’s Future Leaders Scholarship Program provides another way to support the academic achievements of tomorrow’s leaders,” said Gale V. King, executive vice president, chief administrative officer at Nationwide. “We believe our ongoing partnership with The Executive Leadership Council will create powerful possibilities for these students.”

Comprising more than 700 current and former black CEOs, senior executives and board directors at Fortune 1000 and Global 500 companies, and entrepreneurs at top-tier firms, The Executive Leadership Council, founded in 1986, is the preeminent membership organization committed to increasing the number of global black executives in C-Suites, on corporate boards and in global enterprises.
