Prince George's County, MD proudly announces its Professionals In the Mix: Mixers with a Purpose series. These events, being held in and around the DC-Metro area, will proudly showcase Metro DC's best and brightest business professionals and entrepreneurs while giving all attending the opportunity to network and support other small local businesses. The last mixer was held on May 21, 2009 at the Aloft Hotel at the National Harbor. The mixers are planned by Theresa D. Royal, who is a Certified Meeting Professional (CMP).

"AAEW is elated over the excitement and partnerships Professionals In The Mix has garnered," says Theresa Royal, CMP, Executive Director of AAEW. "We encourage true professionals to come and network, ultimately partner on deals with each other and we are setting an example by doing the same."

For the June 18th event located at the Gallery Restaurant in Silver Spring, AAEW has partnered with Circle of Champions and Emmy Vickers Enterprises. Both business owners are also AAEW Legacy Award nominees. Emmy Vickers (Legacy Female Entrepreneur Award) of Emmy Vickers Enterprises and Robert Yates (Legacy Visionary Award) of Circle of Champions will be honored this October at the AAEW Legacy Awards Dinner. For more details and to attend that event visit www.aaew.org

The second Professionals In the Mix: Mixers with a Purpose will start promptly at 5:30 and include cocktails, light fare, giveaways, plenty of time to network with over 200 attendees and mood music by DJ Jovan. Upon opening of registration, the first 25 to sign up will be free and all others will be asked to pay a small fee. To get on the list, visit http://jointmixer.eventbrite.com

"The mixers are a preamble to this year's AAEW conference. Take the mixer, add informative business strengthening workshops; top ranked business professionals; celebrities; a knock-out formal awards dinner; DC Metro's small business professionals and add a few more surprises and you will have AAEW 2009! We hope to see you there!" --Theresa D. Royal, CMP -- Executive Director and Founder, AAEW

AAEW is a 3-day program with sessions designed to empower African-American and other minorities as they strive to become entrepreneurs, as well as assist current entrepreneurs to excel and build a lasting legacy.

The weekend includes educational seminars, workshops and panel discussions that incorporate strategies for maintaining a successful business. This event is also designed not only to allow attendees to network with other like-minded individuals, but also to educate, inspire, challenge, encourage, empower and provide legacy- building tools as they advance in business while sustaining family and health. AAEW's vision is for everyone to leave this event with a plan of action and purpose to guide them throughout the year.

Black Technology

A virtual spokesperson for black technology, BlackEngineer aspires to serve as leading news and information provider on the advancements in black technology with deep insights into black engineering, black entrepreneurs, black education, and historically black colleges and universities (HBCU). In fact, BlackEngineer is one of the very few to promote the achievements of black technology. The Black engineer of the year awards (BEYA) is one of our successful ventures to promote black technology, progress and achievements made in black technology, and the sentiments of the Black community in the US, the UK, Caribbean, and Africa.

Black Entrepreneurs

Black technology entrepreneurs are increasingly providing the horsepower that drives the global economy. Over the last two decades, black entrepreneurs have created more jobs, and contributed much more to the economic expansion of the Black community as a whole, than any black pastor or politician. Black entrepreneurs are taking risks and building businesses that generate economic growth and increase prosperity in underserved areas, as more minority-owned and minority-focused businesses emerge, willing to serve the financial needs of Black entrepreneurs. US Black Engineer & Information Technology magazine's annual list of Top Black Technology Entrepreneurs reflects the expanding scope of leading Black entrepreneurs in information technology, homeland security, and defense.
