Ninety-two scholarships worth $71,400 will be awarded at the 2006 National
Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NASFAA) conference at
Washington State Convention & Trade Center in Seattle, July 5 - 8.
NASFAA supports financial aid professionals at colleges, universities,
and career schools and is the only national association with a primary focus on
student aid legislation, regulatory analysis, and professional development for
financial aid administrators.
Bertice Berry, PHD will speak at the NASFAA conference July 7. Dr. Berry,
scholar, author, and entertainer, earned a Ph.D. in Sociology from Kent State
University at the age of 26, after she had been told she was not "college
material". She left Kent to become an award-winning entertainer, lecturer, and
comedienne.
A virtual spokesperson for black technology, BlackEngineer aspires to serve as leading news and information provider on the advancements in black technology with deep insights into black engineering, black entrepreneurs, black education, and historically black colleges and universities (HBCU). Black entrepreneurs are taking risks and building businesses that generate economic growth and increase prosperity in underserved areas, as more minority-owned and minority-focused businesses emerge, willing to serve the financial needs of Black entrepreneurs. US Black Engineer & Information Technology magazine's annual list of Top Black Technology Entrepreneurs reflects the expanding scope of leading Black entrepreneurs in information technology, homeland security, and defense.
