Coppin State brings home International award for innovative wireless technology

Coppin State University - the first school in the University System of Maryland to go wireless campus-wide- was awarded the 2006 “Best Practices in Mobile and Wireless award for implementation of its wireless network at Computer world magazine's Mobile and Wireless World conference in Orlando, Florida, May. Coppin State beat out notable international finalists such as Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, N.C., the U. S. Postal Service in Washington D.C., Globe Telecom in the Philippines, Airport Authority of Hong Kong, China and Dubai eGovernment in Dubai. This recognition is the culmination of back-to-back awards for the university’s giant strides in IT in partnership with Nortel, one of the largest telecommunications companies in the world.
