Minority Media and Telecom Council Policy Conference

Black, Hispanic, and other minority owners of broadcast stations met with members of Congress, regulators, investment bankers, lenders, brokers and policy experts for the 4th annual access to capital and telecommunications policy conference of the Minority Media & Telecommunications Council (MMTC) in Washington, D.C. Discussions at the two-day event focused on financing, ownership, rapid change in communications technology, new global forms of media partnerships, closing the digital divide, and universal broadband. Latest figures from the Federal Communications Commission show members of racial minorities control 3.5 percent of broadcast stations nationwide.
