Survey finds affluent African Americans are wealthier than overall affluent market

African Americans are wealthier than the overall affluent market, more bullish than the average affluent investor, show slightly higher total net worth and assets at an average of 46 - eight years younger than their affluent counterparts, and place more importance on having a financial plan. Still, only 52 percent of affluent Blacks have designated a primary professional advisor, compared with nearly two-thirds of all affluent households. These are some of the key findings of Phoenix Marketing International Affluent Marketing Service - a twice-yearly summary of affluent and high net worth households throughout the U.S. According to data from 7,842 interviews conducted in 2004-5, opportunities exist to tap into a powerful and growing market that are also far less likely to be retired.
