The 2013 Emerald Honorees come from industry, government, research institutions and academia as well as nonprofits. They are distinguished innovators making a difference in science, technology, engineer and math (STEM) fields. These thought leaders are paving the way and changing the world.
The Scientist of the Year award represents a recognition of merit, broad effect on people in many disciplines, and value to society as a whole. The editorial staff of Career Communications Group selects the Scientist of the Year annually with the advice of an independent panel of judges who represent a cross section of respected technical expertise within the research and development community.
The 2013 Emerald Honorees recognize innovators who demonstrate excellence in science, engineering, or technology, leadership in their workplaces and communities, outstanding work as role models and mentors and commitment to recruiting and retaining minorities in the nation's science and technology enterprises. This February, the nation’s finest minority researchers and executive-level decision makers in science will share the spotlight at the annual BEYA STEM Conference in Washington, D.C.
