ARLINGTON, VA, September 6--The Association of Naval Services Officers (ANSO) hosted their first Eastern Region Professional Development Symposium Friday at the Crystal Gateway Marriott in Arlington, Virginia. The symposium brought together Hispanic officers, civilian executives, enlisted personnel, and other senior leaders in the Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, and maritime industry to learn from, network with, and mentor one another, as well as conduct professional development training.
Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Jonathan W. Greenert keynoted the event on the theme “Diversity and how to achieve it.” Not much can be done without a diverse workforce, the admiral said. “We can't be ready without a collective representation to build the Navy of tomorrow,” he added. “It took a while to build an all-volunteer force; and it has to be diverse because that's where the future is.”
