Meet Window Snyder: Ace Web Browser Developer

The DNS protocol flaw, discovered earlier this year, is one of the biggest security headlines for 2008. The researcher who found the bug is probably in the running for an award. But USBE's fave pick for rising star is Window Snyder. She is a tech with an electic mix of interests. My Mozilla Security Blog, shows what Snyder does for a living.

Some of her latest entries include Tipping Point vulnerability patched in Firefox 3.0.1 and 2.0.0.16, information on the Mozilla Security Metrics Project, and status update for Chrome Protocol Directory Traversal issues. Snyder's job title is chief security officer at Mozilla Corporation. Snyder is also co-author of Threat Modeling, a standard manual on application security.

Window Snyder was a founding member and director of Security Architecture at @stake and a senior security strategist at Microsoft in the Security Engineering and Communications organization, most notably as security lead and signoff on Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 and Windows Server 2003. After leaving Microsoft in 2005, she worked as principal, founder and CTO at Matasano Security LLC, that was sold to Symantec for $49M. She joined Mozilla in September 2006.

On Window Snyder's blog her interests run from computer security, mathematics and cephalopods to spoken word, snowboarding and glass blowing.
