Nominations for the 2025 Black Engineer of the Year Awards are now open. Act now and nominate outstanding leaders for their remarkable achievements and exceptional contributions to the fields of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM).
The BEYA STEM Global Competitiveness Conference, hosted by US Black Engineer magazine, the Council of Historically Black College and University Engineering Deans, Lockheed Martin Corporation, and Aerotek, will take place in February 2025.
The conference will feature the BEYA Gala, where the 2025 Black Engineer of the Year Award, the top award of the BEYA STEM Conference, will be presented.
The BEYA Selection Committee will convene this fall to review nominations for the STEM employee recognition program, which is now in its thirty-ninth year.
The Black Engineer of the Year Awards (BEYA) are currently accepting nominations until August 31.
The deadline for nominations is August 31. You can log in here to complete an application.
These awards cover various categories in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) fields, such as community service, most promising engineer/scientist, outstanding technical contribution, research leadership, student leadership, and technical sales.
The awards aim to recognize not just individual achievement, but the collective potential of the future STEM workforce.
There are two types of awards: peer-reviewed awards, which undergo a selection panel review, and outstanding achievement awards, which are based on employer recommendations and do not undergo panel review.
For peer-reviewed awards, letters of recommendation from executives at the nominee’s place of employment hold substantial weight in the committee’s evaluation of the nominee’s impact and achievements.
Nominations should include detailed descriptions of the nominee’s responsibilities, the effect of their achievements on the company or facility, the extent of their community outreach activities, and their impact on other minorities pursuing careers in science and technology.
Additionally, letters describing responses from community leaders and other interested parties to the nominee’s activities and achievements will also be taken into consideration.
The BEYA STEM Conference aims to establish a network of inspiring role models who can promote greater access to STEM careers and raise the profile of organizations as employers of choice.
