with Hilda Solis, U.S. Secretary of Labor
Before joining the Obama administration, Hilda Solis was a four-term member of the House of Representatives, where she focused on expanding health care, protecting the environment, and uplifting working people. One of her key legislative achievements was enactment of a bill that provided funding for “green collar” training for veterans, displaced workers, at-risk youth and people from low-income families. Obama's Top Scientist on the Importance of HBCU Engineering
Much of the nation’s science establishment breathed a sigh of relief when, just before taking office, President Obama named physicist John P. Holdren to be his top science advisor. After eight years of the Bush administration, which was widely accused of subordinating hard scientific facts to the whims of politics, Holdren was seen as someone who would make things right. Recently, he sat down for an interview with USBE&IT magazine to talk about global warming, energy insecurity, nuclear weapons proliferation—and science and public policy. May 5, 2010, 03:01

I am a Brain Surgeon. Unleash your potential...Think BIG!
Benjamin S. Carson Sr., a Johns Hopkins Children's Center neurosurgeon, received the nation's highest civilian award, the Presidential Medal of Freedom, in a White House ceremony on June 19. Read an archive USBE interview, where Dr. Carson shares his thoughts about his career and service to community. "I'd say everybody has obstacles in his life; there's no question about that. And you can either come up to that obstacle and say, "My gosh! There is a containing fence," and sit down and pout, or you can walk up to that obstacle and say, "It looks like a hurdle. I'm going to jump over it." Jun 23, 2008, 17:46

Black technology entrepreneurs are increasingly providing the horsepower that drives the global economy. Over the last two decades, black entrepreneurs have created more jobs, and contributed much more to the economic expansion of the Black community as a whole, than any black pastor or politician. Black entrepreneurs are taking risks and building businesses that generate economic growth and increase prosperity in underserved areas, as more minority-owned and minority-focused businesses emerge, willing to serve the financial needs of Black entrepreneurs. US Black Engineer & Information Technology magazine's annual list of Top Black Technology Entrepreneurs reflects the expanding scope of leading Black entrepreneurs in information technology, homeland security, and defense.
