2019 marks the 33rd anniversary of the Black Engineer of the Year Awards (BEYA) Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Global Competitiveness Conference.
Lockheed Martin Corporation will host the annual STEM gathering, in partnership with US Black Engineer & Information Technology magazine and 15 Deans of ABET-accredited Historically Black College and University (HBCU) Engineering Schools in the nation's capital Feb. 7-9, 2019.
Anthony “Tony” Mitchell, an executive vice president at Booz Allen Hamilton, will receive top honors as 2019 Black Engineer of the Year for his outstanding accomplishments in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM).
Other BEYA categories recognize exceptional careers in government and industry, and actions that have energized both corporations and communities alike.
Some of America's most promising students will also be recognized during the three-day event at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel in Washington, D.C.
Thursday, Feb. 7th, commences with the Opening Night Alumni Welcome Reception. On Fri, Feb. 8th, the Modern-Day Technology Leaders Luncheon, and more than 40 career development seminars take place. The evening concludes with the 15th Annual Stars and Stripes Military Dinner hosted by the U.S. Coast Guard. On Sat, Feb.9th, the conference offers an opportunity to join the Engineering Deans for a “Power Breakfast” followed by the Deans’ Roundtable. The STEM Career Fair for students and professionals takes place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and draws on-site recruiters from Lockheed, Boeing, Gulfstream, Chrysler, IBM, Northrop Grumman, Raytheon, and many more STEM employers.
On the evening of Sat. Feb 9th, from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m., the conference hosts the Black Engineer of the Year Awards black-tie gala. 2019 BEYA winners will be featured in the conference edition of US Black Engineer & Information Technology magazine, to be published Feb. 2019.
