AVEVA, a global leader in industrial software, has announced the AVEVA Scholars Program, a new initiative aimed at supporting sophomore students from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).
The program, spanning three years, includes scholarships and immersive onsite experiences, ultimately paving the way for talented Black scholars to join the AVEVA team upon graduation.
The AVEVA Scholars Program, which will launch at Howard University, offers a unique opportunity for students classified as sophomores in Fall 2024 majoring in engineering and computer science.
“The AVEVA Scholars will learn from engineers and computer scientists at a leading industrial software company, showcase their talents, and develop mentoring relationships that enable them to thrive and become leaders in the technology sector,” said John M.M. Anderson, dean of the Howard University College of Engineering and Architecture. “We look forward to working with AVEVA to further our academic enterprise and student learning experience at the College of Engineering and Architecture, and to sustain our efforts to educate students from underserved communities."
Key features of the program include:
A $14,000 scholarship payment per year for three years A six-week AVEVA on-site experience with a $7,000 stipend and group housing accommodation provided Guaranteed job placement at AVEVA upon meeting relevant criteria
The on-site program is scheduled to officially commence in June 2024, running for six weeks. During this period, students will receive a comprehensive induction, orientation to AVEVA's business and products, and exposure to the company's values and culture.
The program will also focus on developing interpersonal skills through Action for Good activities (Action for Good (aveva.com), presentation skills, etiquette guidance, and social activities.
Scholars who meet relevant criteria can expect a full-time role waiting for them at AVEVA after graduation. By investing in young scholars, AVEVA aims to future-proof its talent pipeline and ultimately increase the pool of diverse talent.
The AVEVA Scholars Program was championed by AVEVA’s BLACK Voices Employee Group, a group that aims to increase representation within the company, amplify career opportunities in the technology industry for diverse groups, and encourage the development of future leaders.
The program aligns with AVEVA's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion focus areas: gender, race and ethnicity, religion, faith or belief, disability, and sexual orientation. Each focus area has an active employee group working to develop greater understanding and inclusion across the business.
