"Digi. City Connects" will bring together US Black Engineer & Information Technology (USBE) magazine publisher Tyrone Taborn and retired American football star Torrey Smith at a technology forum. The event is part of a series hosted by Digi. City, which hopes to inspire innovation in Smart City efforts, digital equity, and infrastructure.
According to Digi. City's announcement, speakers will explore how local government, industry, and communities can collaborate to expand the social and economic benefits of 21st-century technology and policy implications of smart city technologies.
The speaker lineup includes Claudia Jolin, vice president of the Economic Development, Downtown Partnership of Baltimore, Mike Hilliard, community services program director at the HARBEL Community Organization, William Honablew, Jr., executive director, Baltimore City Chamber of Commerce, John Horrigan, senior fellow, Technology Policy Institute, former Ravens wide receiver Torrey Smith, and Tyrone Taborn, CEO of Career Communications Group, publisher of USBE magazine and host of the BEYA STEM Conference.
Digi. City is designed to discuss the policy behind deploying and supporting smart city technology. Founder Chelsea Collier connects professionals across industries and elected leadership to inform and advance the conversation around the future of cities.
The event, which is sponsored by Verizon, will take place at the Spark Baltimore building located at 8 Market Place within the Power Plant Live! plaza. Co-host organizations include the National Action Network Greater Baltimore Chapter, HARBEL Community Organization, Baltimore City Chamber of Commerce, and the Druid Heights Community Development Corporation.
