Karla Morris has chalked up some remarkable achievements since she joined Sandia National Laboratories in 2011. Her accomplishments include serving as the lead developer of ForTrilinos, the object-oriented Fortran 2003 interface to Trilinos. Karla is also the co-inventor of the “Object-Oriented Programming in Fortran” course, which was taught in federally-funded laboratories, universities, and conferences, in the United States and Europe.
“Karla is most assuredly one of the 'Most Promising Scientists' at Sandia," said Andrew McIlroy of integrated security solutions at Sandia."I am thrilled to have been part of Karla’s initial hiring and even more thrilled that she continues to be among the most prolific and impactful early-career scientists at Sandia.”
Karla continues to make waves in her field. Last summer, Computer in Science & Engineering (CiSE), a technical magazine published by the IEEE, announced that she had joined the editorial board to co-edit the software engineering track.
Throughout her career, Karla has been active in broadening participation in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) efforts such as the FIRST Robotic Competition, Richard Tapia Celebration of Diversity in Computing Conference, and Broader Engagement Program at the Supercomputing Conference, among others. Karla will receive a Most Promising professional award at the 2022 BEYA STEM Conference.
