Dr. Christa Wright, the director of the Center for Toxicology and Human Health at Chemical Insights Research Institute of UL Research Institutes, received the Outstanding Technical Contribution in Industry Award at the 2024 BEYA STEM Conference.
Wright has a Ph.D. in Environmental Systems and Environmental Toxicology as well as a Master's in Cancer Biology from North Carolina A&T State University, a leading historically Black college and university (HBCU). She completed postdoctoral training at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and MIT.
Alongside her research in emerging health science, Dr. Wright is committed to mentoring budding scientists and creating research training opportunities for students at various academic levels and also aims to enhance science teaching capacity in high schools.
The 2024 BEYA Leading Voices Summit will highlight the partnerships between Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and leading technology companies.
This event celebrates the contributions of HBCUs to STEM fields and serves as a vital bridge between minority students and advanced sectors of the economy.
The summit will feature speakers, including HBCU leaders and innovators, who will share transformative insights and expertise through engaging seminars.
The Summit's theme, "Forge Partnerships, Build Futures, and Unite through HBCU Connections," encourages participants to learn about the impact of HBCU alumni on employers, corporate partnerships between HBCUs and industry, and engineering innovation.
