February 2018 marked a decade since George W. Reynolds, one of 19 Northrop Grumman Corporation employees recognized for their leadership in the workplace and community, received awards at the Black Engineer of the Year Conference.
Then director of industry and university initiatives for engineering and manufacturing, Reynolds was honored with the Black Engineer Award for Corporate Promotion of Education for his dedication to educational advancement in science, engineering, and technology.
Reynolds joined a long line of Northrop Grumman engineers and program managers who have received Black Engineer awards, recognizing them as role models in engineering, technology, science, education, and business.
"Northrop Grumman is proud of these employees, their career achievements, and accomplishments," said Sandra Evers-Manly, vice president of corporate responsibility for Northrop Grumman, in 2008.
"The company values employees who are committed to shaping the lives of future generations by demonstrating the importance of careers in math, science and technology fields. It is especially important that children of traditionally underrepresented groups see successful professionals who come from their backgrounds and cultures."
A 45-year veteran of Northrop Grumman, Reynolds was responsible for developing strategies in partnership with key universities to recruit top students.
He coordinated research and consultation in areas important to Northrop Grumman programs while leveraging new business opportunities. Reynolds also served as a liaison for the Lean Aerospace Initiative at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
In addition, he chaired numerous university boards, including the Business Industry Consortium at Alabama A&M University and the Engineering Advisory Board at North Carolina A&T State University.
He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from Howard University and a Master of Science degree in Engineering Administration from George Washington University.
