Tuskegee University rang in the holiday season with its annual Christmas Concert held Sunday, Dec. 2.
In addition to performances by the Tuskegee Brass Ensemble and Golden Voices Choir, the occasion marked President Lily McNair’s first tree-lighting ceremony.
The audience enjoyed singing along with the choir for the Hallelujah Chorus and the Twelve Days of Christmas.
Choir seniors in their last Christmas concert waved an emotional goodbye, as the evening concluded with Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.
In Georgia, Morehouse and Spelman College Glee Clubs came together at the 92nd annual Spelman-Morehouse Christmas Carol Concert.
Begun in the 1920s, along with the Harlem Globetrotters, the Christmas Carol Concert attracts visitors from across the state, said Harold Martin Jr., interim president of Morehouse. “This shared gift from Morehouse and Spelman is our way of saying ‘happy holidays’ to the community we love being a part of.”
On Friday, December 21, Cece Winans and Morgan State University Choir will headline a Christmas Concert at the Meyerhoff Symphony Hall with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra.
