Joseph Moore is one of several MITRE Corporation scientists and engineers that have been recognized at the BEYA STEM Conference. Moore has had a long career that includes senior positions at Deloitte, Forrester, and Arthur D. Little.
He started as a "pure play" design engineer, but always aspired to become a consultant. After 10 years of engineering experience, he took a position with a technology firm. Moore has worked as an advisor to the federal government and private sector companies for more than 25 years.
Some of his accomplishments include developing a technology investment plan for 21 U.S. Postal Service Bulk Mail Centers; a supply chain strategy for a manufacturer of consumer food products, an assessment of order fulfillment processes for a telecommunications equipment company, and a project for the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to optimize data collection and meet the increasing demands of the nation’s ecosystem. He has also created courses for high school students to get them interested in STEM careers.
Moore earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Virginia Tech and a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from George Washington University.
The MITRE Corporation, which was named by USBE magazine as one of the top supporters of engineering education at historically black colleges and universities for 2019, works to tackle difficult problems through the operation of federally funded R&D Centers as well as public-private partnerships.
