During the UNITE 2024: UNCF Summit on Black Higher Education event, scheduled for July 28 to Aug. 1 in Atlanta, GA, the United Negro College Fund (UNCF) will present a seminal report.
Earlier in the year, UNCF President and CEO Dr. Michael L. Lomax unveiled the report and its findings at the Higher Education Climate Leadership Summit in February.
The report focuses on the role of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) in climate action, sustainability, and environmental justice.
It highlights that HBCUs have implemented green programs, prioritize climate and sustainability initiatives, and promote energy conservation.
The report also emphasizes the need for HBCUs to establish climate hubs to empower historically excluded communities in responding to the climate change crisis.
UNCF, which supports over 50,000 students at more than 1,100 colleges and universities nationwide, aims to advocate for minority education and college readiness.
