Early in 2022, Roderick K. Jackson, Ph.D., was a guest on the High-Tech Sunday podcast's clean energy future episode. Career Communications Group produced High-Tech Sunday's weekly program for STEM professionals, thought leaders and students to discuss technological advancements and achievements based on universal moral principles.
In February 2022, Jackson received the Professional Achievement in Government Award at the 36th annual BEYA STEM Conference, which CCG has produced for almost four decades. The Professional Achievement Award is given to a mid-career professional who has made significant discoveries and important advances in STEM and is acknowledged as a leader of large STEM initiatives.
Dr. Jackson is the laboratory program manager for buildings research at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), focusing on creative answers to today's energy challenges. He is a Distinguished Member of the Research Staff.
Jackson sets the strategic agenda for the building portfolio at NREL while working with senior management. He came to NREL from Oak Ridge, where he was the group manager for building envelope systems research. He was also at the forefront of connected communities research, leading an effort that established Alabama Power's Smart Neighborhood. He was listed as part of the Greater Knoxville Business Journal's "40 under forty" for leading the effort.
Jackson is a member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers. In addition, he is serving a three-year appointment to the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE) Research Advisory Board, which began in 2021.
