Dr. Gina Guillaume-Joseph is a Modern-Day Technology Leader Award winner. She was recognized at the 2016 Black Engineer of the Year Awards (BEYA) for outstanding contributions and leadership in systems engineering.

A longtime member of the International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE) Washington Metropolitan Area chapter, she served as president a few years ago. INCOSE members in the Washington D.C. and Northern Virginia areas work in federal departments that acquire systems for the U.S. government, and top technology firms in the area.

The Modern-Day Technology Leader award presented at the BEYA Conference in Washington D.C. recognizes an individual’s commitment to shaping the future of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) by developing innovative technology or doing research for leading technology industries.

Currently, Dr. Guillaume-Joseph is the director of technology at Capital One. She also serves as an adjunct professor and doctoral research advisor in The George Washington University School of Engineering & Applied Science. Earlier in her career, she held various positions at The MITRE Corporation, including principal systems engineer, portfolio manager, systems engineer, and project lead.

She has served as an adjunct professor at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, and George Mason University’s Volgenau School of Engineering; as a quality assurance engineer for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and Booz Allen Hamilton. In addition, she worked as a test engineer at Sprint Nextel for a year and was a developer intern for Sun Microsystems.

Guillaume-Joseph earned a Ph.D. in systems engineering from George Washington in 2015. Before that, she earned a master’s in information systems from the University of Maryland Baltimore County and a bachelor’s in computer science from Boston College.
