For NASA astronaut Anne McClain, nothing could be better professionally than a week that started with a spacewalk on Friday, March 22 and ends with being a part of the first-ever all-female spacewalk outside the International Space Station on Friday, March 29.
“I just found out that I’ll be on console providing support for the FIRST ALL FEMALE SPACEWALK with @AstroAnnimal and @Astro_Christina and I can not contain my excitement!!!! #WomenInSTEM #WomenInEngineering #WomenInSpace.” tweeted Canadian Space Agency flight controller Kristen Facciol on March 1st.

According to NASA Television, which will air the spacewalks, Astronaut Anne McClain and flight engineer Christina Koch are scheduled to venture outside on the March 29 spacewalk to work on the second set of battery replacements on the International Space Station.
This would be the first-ever spacewalk with all-female spacewalkers.
For Women’s History Month, NASA and the International Space Station are celebrating the women who conduct science aboard the orbiting lab.
NASA astronaut Anne McClain became the first woman to live aboard the space station as part of two different crews with other women: Serena Auñón-Chancellor in December 2018 and currently in orbit with Christina Koch.
Christina Koch became the most recent woman in space, launching to the space station in mid-March to take part in some 250 research investigations and technology demonstrations.
Retired Russian cosmonaut Svetlana Yevgenyevna Savitskaya was the first woman to do a spacewalk.
To date, there have been 214 spacewalks at the International Space Station.
The first-ever spacewalk with all-female spacewalkers is scheduled for Friday, March 29.
