The 2023 BEYA Leading Voices Summer Seminar Series will feature discussions among vice presidents of research from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) regarding the CHIPS and Science Act.
This act establishes funding for the Creating Helpful Incentives to Produce Semiconductors (CHIPS) for America Fund and Defense Fund, which aims to encourage the production of semiconductors in the United States and carry out the National Network for Microelectronics Research and Development.
HBCUs play a significant role in producing STEM graduates from underrepresented communities, and this seminar series will provide insights into their current status and future opportunities.
The series will take place on Friday, July 28, 2023, and includes four sessions, with the first session focusing on the CHIPS & Science Act.
The session will be moderated by Dr. Victor McCrary, vice president for research at the University of the District of Columbia, and Nate Crews, CEO of Business Transformation Consulting Services, who will also join the panel.
The seminar series will occur virtually through the BEYA (Digital Twin Experience) and STEM City USA platforms, providing an interactive environment for attendees to connect with the speakers and share ideas. Registration is available here.
