The Potomac Officers Club announced Wednesday that Dr. Charles Johnson-Bey, currently a senior vice president at Booz Allen Hamilton, will be moderating a panel at an upcoming event on Tuesday, January 26th.
According to their website, the Potomac Officers Club (POC) is a membership organization dedicated to empowering executives within the Government Contracting community. POC provides the opportunity to learn from peer business executives, hear from government thought leaders, and create an outstanding forum to develop key business and partnerships.
During Martin Luther King Jr. Day 2020, Johnson-Bey, the 2018 Black Engineer of the Year Award winner for Community Service, shared inspirational stories to motivate young people and their families, to attend the 34th annual BEYA STEM Conference.
In 2017, Johnson-Bey was nominated by Lockheed Martin Corporation, one of the largest employers of scientists, engineers, and technicians, for a Black Engineer of the Year Award. He was described as “one of the most outstanding STEM mentors and volunteers” at Lockheed. Johnson-Bey’s former job involved visiting schools and mentoring young men and women aspiring to careers in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). As a former professor at Morgan State University in Baltimore, he works to motivate and inspire students. He worked at Lockheed Martin for 17 years, where he galvanized the company’s cyber resources and led research and development activities with organizations including Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Microsoft Research, and the GE Global Research Center.
Currently, Johnson-Bey is a leader in organizational change for Booz Allen’s commercial and defense clients. He develops and executes innovative resilience strategies that reflect evolving markets and technology dynamics. Johnson-bey has more than 25 years of engineering experience spanning cyber resilience, signal processing, system architecture, prototyping, and hardware.
Prior to joining Booz Allen, he was a research engineer at Corning Incorporated and Motorola Corporate Research Labs and taught electrical engineering at Morgan State University.
Johnson-Bey serves on the Whiting School of Engineering Advisory Board and the Electrical and Computer Engineering Advisory Committee, both at Johns Hopkins University. He is also on the Cybersecurity Institute Advisory Board for the Community College of Baltimore County. He received both an M.S. and Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the University of Delaware and a B.S. in electrical and computer engineering from Johns Hopkins University.
