The White House Initiative on Advancing Educational Equity, Excellence, and Economic Opportunity through Historically Black Colleges and Universities, a department of the US Department of Education, has announced the dates for the 2023 National HBCU Week Conference.
This annual gathering of college and university leaders, faculty, students, and supporters will take place from September 24-28 at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City at Reagan National Airport.
The conference, titled "Raising the Bar: Forging Excellence through Innovation & Leadership," will feature workshops, interactive exhibits, keynote speeches, and other opportunities to connect the HBCU community with federal and private resources.
The 5th Annual National HBCU Week Conference Career and Recruitment Fair, the conference's main event, will be held on Thursday, September 28 at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City.
This full-day, in-person event will offer professional development sessions, direct hiring, and recruitment opportunities. Registration is required to attend the conference and career fair. This year's career fair theme is Career Pathways and Economic Mobility.
The fair will feature professional development sessions and direct hiring and recruitment opportunities in the following categories: Career Services Support, Career Pathways Development, Experiential Learning/Technical Assistance, Workforce Development, Entrepreneurship/Leadership, and Access and Affordability.
The event is free and open to all National Annual HBCU well participants and the public, including undergraduates, graduates, doctoral candidates, recent alumni, and experienced professionals.
The objectives of the career fair are to recruit diverse talent, inform attendees and students of public and private sector sources, introduce career, fellowship, internship, and higher education opportunities, and establish professional relationships that will expand networks and enhance professional development.
The priorities of the career fair are to increase awareness of public and private programs, share career pathways, increase equity and access, expand outreach and networks, recruit HBCU talent, and share economic and community opportunities.
