Prairie View A&M University (PVAMU) has announced that 300 degrees will be conferred during the Summer Commencement Convocation ceremony, which will be held on Saturday, August 13 at 9 a.m.
PVAMU also said in the press release that Roshunda Jones-Koumba, a Prairie View A&M alumna and theatre consultant, is a speaker for the event. In June, Jones-Koumba received the 2022 Excellence in Theatre Education Award, which is a special Tony Award that honors educators. A panel selected Jones-Koumba from among more than 5,000 entries.
As an educator for 18 years in the Aldine Independent School District, Jones-Koumba is also the proud recipient of the prestigious Stephen Schwartz Musical Theatre Teacher of the Year Award and the International Thespian Society Inspirational Theatre Educator of the Year Award, among many others. For friends, families, and guests unable to attend the commencement ceremony in person, PVAMU will stream the event at pvamu.edu/stream. It will also be streamed on the University’s official YouTube channel at youtube.com/pvamu.
