Camilla A. White has been promoted to the rank of brigadier general, making her the first African American woman to achieve this position within the United States Army Acquisition Corps.
The promotion ceremony took place on March 1st, coinciding with the transition from Black History Month to Women's History Month, marking a significant milestone for the Army Acquisition Corps.
Brig. Gen. White's distinguished career began as a Signal Corps officer and seamlessly transitioned into the Acquisition Corps.
In her role as the deputy program executive officer for the U.S. Army Program Executive Office Command, Control, and Communications-Tactical, she has played a key role in managing the Army's important operational needs in unified communication and data networks.
In addition to her role at PEO C3T, White has also served as the chief of staff for the Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Army (Acquisition, Logistics, and Technology), overseeing the organization's modernization mission with dedication and excellence.
Throughout her career, she has held various assignments, including assistant product manager within PEO Missiles and Space, assistant director for the 402nd Army Field Support Brigade Acquisition, Logistics, and Technology Directorate, and deputy program manager within PEO Command and Control Capabilities at the Defense Information Systems Agency.
Brig. Gen. White's expertise in critical defense systems has had a significant impact on national defense.
Notably, she served as the Patriot Advanced Capability-3 Product Manager, making vital contributions to the development of interceptors to safeguard against tactical ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and aircraft threats.
She has also held key positions, such as supporting the deputy assistant secretary of the Army (Plans, Programs, and Resources) and serving as the director of aviation for the deputy for acquisition and systems management.
White's career highlights include a brigade command position as the project manager for Terminal High Altitude Area Defense within the Missile Defense Agency, where she oversaw the development of a weapon system to intercept and destroy short-range, medium-range, and limited intermediate-range ballistic missile threats.
Following her command position, she served as the chief of staff within the Army's Rapid Capabilities and Critical Technologies Office, supporting Hypersonics, Directed Energy, and Mid-Range Capability programs, showcasing her ability to adapt to diverse and challenging environments.
Brig. Gen. White's exemplary service has been recognized through numerous military awards, including the Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, and the Korean Defense Service Medal.
