That’s why on Friday, October 1, Dr. Nilesh Kumar Patel, vice president of medical affairs for Boston Scientific’s Neuromodulation division, will be speaking on pain and clinical trials in the Boston Scientific Auditorium in the La Familia Wellness Center in STEM City USA.

Dr. Patel is board-certified in pain management and anesthesiology. He has lectured at numerous meetings, including the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, the World Institute of Pain, the Society for Spine Interventions, the American Society of Anesthesiology, and the American Society of Regional Anesthesia.  He is extensively published with 40 research publications.

Patel’s resume includes service to panels and peer review for several pain journals. He has lectured at the University of London, Cleveland Clinic, Johns Hopkins, Harvard, the Mayo Clinic, University of Michigan, and others. Dr. Patel has an executive MBA from Kellogg program at Northwestern University in Chicago.

His interests are radiofrequency neurotomy, spinal stimulation, deep brain stimulation, and minimally invasive options for spinal conditions including stenosis, and novel therapies meeting unmet patient needs for pain, brain, and orthopedic applications. He is also passionate about advocacy efforts to decrease the opioid burden and early access to Interventional pain.

Patel completed his medical training in the United Kingdom, followed by a residency in anesthesiology at Case Western Reserve University, where he served as chief resident.  He did a fellowship in pain medicine at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, where he served as attending staff.
