Code Super Powers has announced the organization is honoring Juneteenth by awarding summer camp scholarships that are designed to uplift and educate underserved communities.
Young people ages 6 – 16 will receive up to 5 days of technology camp at no cost. The submission launch date for applications is June 19 and ends on June 26.
On June 19, 1865, Emancipation was celebrated for the first time, two and a half years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation. According to Urban Intellectuals, since then, Juneteenth has been observed in various ways. In 1979, it was made an official holiday in Texas; and since then many other states followed suit.
Code Super Powers (CSP) was founded by MP Evans, a full-stack programmer who has built collaboration platforms from the ground up. A former software engineer for IBM, MP provided development expertise to Fortune 500 companies. He also supported several high-profile defense contracts as an infrastructure security expert with AceInfo Solutions. His clients included the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Commerce. MP now leads CodeSP and strives to provide a world-class coding education to every child.
