Qurate Retail, Inc. has announced that David Rawlinson II assumed the role of President and Chief Executive Officer on October 1st. The new CEO succeeds his predecessor Mike George after a two-month transition. Effective January 1, David will join the Board of Directors of Qurate Retail.

Prior to joining NielsenIQ as CEO, David was president of Grainger Global Online, where he led W.W. Grainger, Inc. Under his leadership, the business grew double digits and won national awards for workplace culture. Qurate Retail, Inc. is comprised of seven brands – QVC, HSN, Zulily, Ballard Designs, Frontgate, Garnet Hill, and Grandin Road. Globally, Qurate Retail Group is a leader in video commerce, mobile commerce, and social commerce. The retailer reaches 218 million homes worldwide via 14 television networks and reaches millions more via streaming services, social pages, mobile apps, websites, print catalogs, and in-store destinations.

David has held executive roles with ITT Exelis, formerly ITT Corp. He also served a Presidential appointment as a White House Fellow and held various positions in both the Bush and Obama administrations. In the Obama Administration, he was a senior advisor for economic policy with the White House National Economic Council.  He has an MBA from Harvard Business School, a JD from the University of South Carolina School of Law, and is a graduate of The Citadel. He serves on the boards of Discover Financial Services and NielsenIQ, and previously served on the board of Japanese e-commerce and industrial retail firm MonotaRO Co. Ltd, a Nielsen Holdings.
