DTE Energy, a Detroit-based energy company, is a Diamond Plus Partner of the 20th Women of Color STEM Conference, which is held in Detroit, Michigan.

DTE executives participate throughout the conference’s seminars and workshops, career fairs, and acknowledge some of the company’s rising stars in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) during the Technology Recognition Luncheon.

“DTE places a high priority on STEM education because these disciplines are the heart and soul of our company and our industry,” said Joi Harris, vice president of Gas Operations for DTE Energy.

Harris, who participated in STEM programs as a teenager and mentors young people today, was a guest speaker at the event.

The company’s units include an electric utility serving 2.1 million customers in Southeastern Michigan and a natural gas utility serving 1.2 million customers in Michigan. DTE Energy’s portfolio includes non-utility energy businesses focused on power and industrial projects, natural gas pipelines, gathering and storage, and energy marketing and trading.

As one of Michigan’s leading corporate citizens, DTE Energy is a force for growth in the 450 communities it serves in a variety of ways, including philanthropy, volunteerism, and economic progress.

DTE employees attending the Women of Color STEM Conference Oct. 15-17 will be able to network at the 20th Women of Color STEM Conference, bringing together 4,000 students, professionals, and leaders in the STEM fields. The conference will be held downtown Detroit at the Detroit Marriott.

“The conference recognizes high-performing women of color while providing DTE the opportunity to recruit even more diverse new talent with great potential,” said Sandra Ennis, vice president of Diversity and Inclusion for DTE Energy. Ennis is a scheduled presenter at the event’s awards dinner.

“DTE’s support of the 20th Annual Women of Color STEM Conference is yet another way the company is helping to address the shortfall of women and other groups in the science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) fields,” she said.

DTE Energy, the DTE Energy Foundation, and employee volunteers support dozens of STEM initiatives across the state, including DAPCEP, the Michigan Science Center, FIRST Robotics and the Careers in Energy Week.
