Howard University has announced that the “Engines of Equity: Innovation, Growth, and the Next Generation HBCU” webinar will take place on Wednesday, July 14. The one-hour virtual event is scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m. EST.

The focus of the discussion will be the past role of historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) as drivers of prosperity, and how they can leverage their strengths to increase economic mobility for their graduates in the 21st century.

The panel includes Dr. Wayne A. I. Frederick, president of Howard University, Dr. Javaune Adams-Gaston, president of Norfolk State University (headline photo); Jim Shelton, chief investment & impact officer at Blue Meridian Partners, and former deputy secretary at the US Department of Education;  and Matt Sigelam, the CEO of Emsi Burning Glass, a leading labor market analytics firm which mines billions of job openings and career histories to track the global market for talent.

The panelists will also talk about the rising challenge of a skills-based job market and how HBCUs can use data to meet the demand for new, innovative models of success.
