Leading Black educators recently featured in US Black Engineer magazine were honored among the “Top 50 Leaders in Higher Education” at the National Diversity & Leadership Conference.

The National Diversity Council, which hosted the annual National Diversity and Leadership Conference in April, described the leaders as “innovators, strategists, and pioneers in local and global education.”

Among the 2021 awardees are Darryll J. Pines, president, The University of Maryland (seen on the cover of USBE magazine), Dr. Felecia M. Nave, president, Alcorn State University, Dr. Ray L. Belton, president-chancellor, Southern University System, Richard J. Gallot, Jr., JD, president, Grambling State University, and Tony Allen, Ph.D., president, Delaware State University.

The conference recognized individuals who contribute to the growth of their students, organization, community, and are active in mentoring the next generation of professionals in the education sector.

The presidents and chancellors are pivotal for the growth and development of individuals and the organizations for which their students work. Educators’ long-term contributions have significantly and uniquely impacted the greater community over the course of their careers.
