Alabama A&M University has reported its highest enrollment ever for the Fall 2023 semester, with 6,633 students currently enrolled, marking a 10% increase from the previous academic year.

In September, Alabama A&M University shared on Twitter its collaboration with Bowie State University in the FICO Educational Analytics Challenge, a program designed to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in data science, engineering, and technology fields.

The program is created specifically for students of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and features remote mentoring from FICO data scientists, as well as in-person lectures from FICO’s Chief Analytics Officer, Dr. Scott Zoldi.

The fall semester-long program allows students to work in teams to enhance their analytics skills and provides access to FICO analytics subject matter experts for technical/project support and mentoring opportunities.

It also offers financial support to enhance analytics study for each participating HBCU and creates potential career opportunities for students for employment after graduation.

Alabama A&M University has been awarded a $700,000 MSEIP grant from the U.S. Department of Education to provide internship opportunities for STEM students. This three-year grant will fund activities leading to more academic support, student research, and professional development.

The Minority Science and Engineering Improvement Program aims to assist predominately minority institutions in improving science and engineering education programs and increasing the flow of underrepresented ethnic minorities, particularly minority women, into science and engineering careers.

The MSEIP grant supports six AAMU Engineering interns performing cutting-edge research in their respective disciplines under the supervision of NASA Marshall Space Flight Center professionals for summer and fall 2023.

Furthermore, a $1.3 million National Science Foundation grant is creating a new collaboration between Alabama A&M University, the University of Georgia, and Texas State University to advance racial equity in STEM education and workforce development for those most impacted by inequities caused by systemic racism.
