Tennessee State University’s Spring Commencement this year featured President Glenda Glover and U.S. Senator Rev. Raphael Warnock as the keynote speakers.
Sen. Warnock addressed graduate students on Friday, May 3, while President Glover delivered the keynote address to undergraduates on Saturday, May 4.
Graduate candidates listened as U.S. Senator Reverend Warnock delivered a powerful message, encouraging them to use their voices to make a difference on their new journey.
In her closing remarks, after 12 years of service as the university’s president, President Glover surprised the class of 2024 by gifting each student $50, which was discovered under their seats.
President Glenda Glover was joined by Interim Provost Dr. Robbie Melton and Board of Trustees Chair Dakasha Winston as she presented Sen. Warnock with an honorary doctorate.
Shawn Buford proudly graduated with her master’s degree, while her youngest son completed his undergraduate degree. Meanwhile, the eldest son is preparing to join the ranks next semester as he earns his master’s degree in engineering.
