STEM City USA President Tyrone Taborn, also the publisher and chief content officer of Career Communications Group, will be a speaker at the ASU+GSV Summit 13.0. Taborn’s insights on the digital divide will be highlighted alongside others at the forefront of scaling innovation in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education from Pre-K to the Gray workforce.

2022 marks the thirteenth year of the ASU+GSV Summit, which will be held live and in-person in San Diego, April 4-6. The theme for the summit is  “ED on the EDGE” and will explore issues in educational technology and how learning loss, emerging tech, future-focused Pre-K to Gray mobility, equity & access, the creator economy, and more are impacting the ways in which the global education ecosystem can grant everyone equal access to the future.

In 2019, Taborn was honored by the National Science Board (NSB) for his exemplary service in promoting public understanding of science and engineering. Past award recipients of the NSB Public Service Award include the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, and the PBS television series NOVA. For more than three decades, Career Communications Group events have exposed thousands to positive role models in STEM careers.

In 1986, Taborn founded Career Communications Group, Inc., a talent management and career development company that publishes US Black Engineer & Information Technology, Hispanic Engineer & Information Technology magazine, and Women of Color magazines.  He also produced the award-winning syndicated television show “Success Through Education” and founded the Black Family Technology Week program, La Familia Technology Awareness Week, and the Native American Technology Awareness Project.

Taborn’s past and present board memberships include the Afro-American Newspaper Company, the Baltimore Urban League, Granville Academy, Centro de La Comunidad, Morgan State University Foundation, The Baltimore Educational Scholarship Trust, Balto Partners for Enhanced Learning, and The President’s RoundTable.
