An internal GM nomination for a General Motors African Ancestry Network (GMAAN) Committee “Excellence in S.T.E.A.M.” award has unanimous support from its members. Career Communications Group CEO Tyrone Taborn, also president of STEM City USA, will receive special recognition during a virtual gathering of GMAAN’s 16th annual Black History Month Celebration on Friday, February 25.

The General Motors African Ancestry Network (GMAAN) is one of eleven GM employee resource groups and serves as an umbrella forum for employees with African ancestry.  GMAAN focuses on attracting, developing, and retaining employees of the Detroit automaker while engaging communities worldwide.

Each year, GMAAN recognizes the achievements of community leaders and change agents who make an impact in marketing, philanthropy, entrepreneurship, finance, and the arts and are committed to fostering an inclusive culture through their work and influence.

For more than 40 years, the promotion of job and career opportunities in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM), or science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM), has formed the backbone of Taborn’s mission at his Baltimore-based Career Communications Group and its metaverse, STEM City USA.
