The MPT Foundation, Inc. has announced the appointment of Career Communications Group CEO Tyrone Taborn to its volunteer board of directors. The MPT Foundation is the fundraising affiliate of Maryland Public Television (MPT). The foundation comprises approximately 24 members drawn from Maryland business, civic, and cultural communities to assist MPT in securing private contributions and foundation grants.

Taborn is also a member of MPT’s Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Advisory Council, a team of civic leaders and businesspersons who guide the implementation of MPT’s strategy to foster greater organizational and civic concord through both internal and external communications and engagement.

Council members also advise leadership on how to enhance the organization’s structures, systems, and operational goals supporting diversity and inclusion at MPT and in the wider community.

Taborn, who is publisher and chairman of Career Communications Group (CCG), is founder of the Foundation for Educational Development, Inc., which aims to raise technology literacy in minority communities through initiatives such as Black Family Technology Awareness Week, La Familia Technology Awareness Week, and The Native American Family Technology Journey.

Taborn’s other current board affiliations include the Women Legislators of Maryland Foundation, Inc., Baltimore Partners for Enhanced Learning, Maryland Black Caucus Foundation, Inc., Advancing Minorities’ Interest in Engineering (AMIE), and the Granville Academy. He is also a member of The National Association of Hispanic Journalists.

Maryland Public Television (MPT) is a public-supported TV network and Public Broadcasting Service member offering entertaining, educational, and inspiring content delivered by traditional broadcasting and streaming on TVs, computers, and mobile devices.
