The two-day event covered topics such as college leadership structure, public-private partnerships, faculty and workforce development, online degree programs, and undergraduate student success.

Attendees also toured the engineering research labs at Tallahassee’s Innovation Park, including the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory, which is the only national laboratory in Florida funded by the National Science Foundation.

The deans from different institutions shared their experiences and challenges, which will help them develop the engineers of tomorrow.

The participating institutions included Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Florida Atlantic University, Florida International University, Florida Gulf Coast University, Florida Polytechnic University, Florida Institute of Technology, University of Central Florida, University of Florida, University of Miami, University of North Florida, and University of South Florida.

In 1982, the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering was established as a joint effort by Florida A&M and Florida State universities. It is the only engineering college in the nation that is shared by two institutions.

Students start their college journey on their respective home campus and once they fulfill the necessary requirements, they come together to learn at our state-of-the-art engineering building.

This exclusive collaboration between a leading Historically Black University and a Research-1 institution offers a varied and practical setting to acquire advanced engineering skills that employers seek.

Leadership from engineering schools across Florida convened at @FAMUFSUCOE last week for the inaugural Florida Engineering Dean’s Summit, an opportunity for engineering educators to explore solutions for shared problems and collaborations.https://t.co/lPK7IlhwsY
