A documentary titled “Are You a Librarian: The Untold Story of Black Librarians” will be released in early 2025. It aims to highlight and celebrate the contributions of Black Librarians who work tirelessly to ensure equitable access to knowledge for everyone.

The film will weave personal stories with archival footage, interviews, and compelling visuals to showcase the often-overlooked role of Black librarians in shaping our collective understanding of the world.

Rodney E. Freeman Jr. is the mastermind behind this project and he shared that the aim of the documentary is not only to celebrate the journey of Black librarians but also to illuminate the global stage with their presence and exceptional contributions.

The producers plan to release a sizzle reel at the ASALH Conference in September 2023, which will generate further anticipation within the librarian community and the general public.

In December 2023, STEM City USA will open the STEM City Chat Like GPT AI Library, a digital repository focusing on minorities in science and engineering.

The library will offer a vast database of information, including volumes of magazine issues, seminar notes, and nominations, with a focus on celebrating diversity and shedding light on the many contributions of minority engineers.
