Stephanie Kelly Jordan is a scientist in the Naval Information Warfare Center (Atlantic). The center is a Department of the Navy organization that designs and sustains systems, cyber networks, and knowledge management services.

“I became a scientist because I saw someone who looked like me describing the beauty of technology and how it transforms lives,” Stephanie said at the 2020 BEYA STEM Conference. “We must all pledge to reach out because you never know who you’ll inspire to take this life-changing journey.”

This February, Stephanie received the Community Service Award from the chairman and CEO of Leidos, Roger Krone, and Carly Jackson, chief technology officer at the Naval Information Warfare Systems Command, in the nation’s capital. Stephanie was recognized for empowering teams at the Naval Information Warfare Center to deliver innovative capabilities to the War fighter.

She was also honored for inspiring students as a science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) outreach advocate throughout South Carolina.

“Representation matters,” Stephanie said in her acceptance speech at the ceremony. “So, as I embark on every STEM outreach endeavor, I ensure that students see a warm, enthusiastic Scientist with technical astuteness and one who inspires them to achieve their greatest potential.”
