September 11 was officially declared as Patriot Day and National Day of Service and Remembrance by President Joe Biden.

It is a day to remember and honor all the lives lost 22 years ago in the terrorist attacks and to recognize the dedication of the heroes who have served this nation since then.

The U.S. Congress has recognized the day as Patriot Day and it is observed annually as the National Day of Service and Remembrance under Public Law.

President Biden has urged all Americans to volunteer and serve their community.

He emphasized that we must continue to show that the rights and freedoms that terrorists sought to destroy on September 11, 2001, remain undaunted. He called on all Americans to defend, protect, and preserve our democracy.

To pay tribute to those who lost their lives in the attacks, the United States Government will display the United States flag at half-staff on Patriot Day and National Day of Service and Remembrance.

Appropriate ceremonies and activities, including remembrance services and a moment of silence starting at 8:46 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time, will be held to honor the innocent victims who perished due to the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001.
